MY LITTLE STORY OF AUDACITY TOWARDS CLIMATE CHANGE ADVOCACY

As I reflect on leading the organisation of WASCAL's Climate Change Action Now launch, I'm reminded of the power of intentional event design in driving real change. From brainstorming to evaluation, every detail mattered. I knew this event had to break the mould and create momentum for climate action.

Through meticulous planning, we crafted a programme that brought together diverse stakeholders, fostering genuine collaboration and concrete commitments. The launch day exceeded expectations, with connections formed and energy palpable. What I'm most proud of, however, is the lasting impact: commitments made, partnerships formed, and youth ambassadors empowered.

This experience taught me invaluable lessons about transformative leadership and the importance of robust advocacy. I learned to hold firm to a vision while remaining flexible on details and to create spaces where different types of knowledge and experience intersect productively.

I am particularly energised by the bridges we built. The  impactful stories and advocacy we believe in to drive behavioural change. By designing events and campaigns with intentionality and bold vision, we can create true catalysts for change. As we continue growing the Climate Change Action Now movement, I'll carry these insights forward, prioritising robust advocacy and impactful storytelling to resonate with diverse audiences and inspire action.

Turning scientific findings into local action, reducing apathy and rallying all and sundry to take responsibility to fight climate change helped in empowering creative minds as we use the power of storytelling through entertainment education(EE), communication, , digital and offline communication, creative arts, community engagement, policy communication and outreach campaigns.

Its worth noting that effective communication and advocacy are crucial in driving climate action. By leveraging the right platforms, stories, and messaging, we can mobilise people, foster collaboration, and create lasting impact. Let's continue to push the boundaries of what's possible in climate advocacy, empowering communities and inspiring change.

Climate change world needs creativity and innovation more than ever. And communication and advocacy are within the class of game changers
